The U.S. initial public offering (IPO) market is experiencing a significant acceleration, driven by growing investor appetite for new issues. Two prominent companies making substantial announcements on Monday, cloud security provider Netskope and data center builder Fermi, signal a broader rebound in U.S. listings.
Netskope, a Santa Clara-based cybersecurity firm, is targeting a valuation of up to $6.5 billion for its U.S. IPO. The company plans to offer 47.8 million shares within a price range of $15 to $17, potentially raising as much as $813 million. Founded in 2012, Netskope specializes in cloud security software and operates within the secure access service edge (SASE) market, a sector Gartner projects will reach $25 billion by 2027. This move highlights increasing investor interest in AI-powered cybersecurity firms, particularly in light of escalating sophisticated cyberattacks. Notably, Netskope achieved a $7.5 billion valuation during a funding round in 2021.
Concurrently, Fermi, a Texas-based data center builder co-founded by former U.S. Energy Secretary Rick Perry, has filed for a U.S. IPO. Although specific offering terms remain undisclosed, the company has applied to list on the Nasdaq under the ticker symbol 'FRMI' and also intends to list on the London Stock Exchange. Fermi, a pre-revenue company established approximately nine months ago, recently secured $100 million in funding, led by Macquarie Group. In June, Fermi announced its ambition to construct the world's largest energy and data complex, designed to power the artificial intelligence sector using nuclear, natural gas, and solar energy. This aligns with Bloomberg Intelligence forecasts predicting the global generative AI market to expand from $64 billion in 2023 to $457 billion by 2027.
These filings, alongside other notable market activities such as ticket reseller StubHub launching its roadshow and companies like Klarna and Gemini preparing for public offerings, indicate a busy period for Wall Street and a strong resurgence in the public markets.
